[ MORE ABOUT THE TRILLIUM LIST ]

Canadian Civics is an innovative learning resource for Ontario grade 10 Civics that is 100% compliant with the 2005 revised curriculum. Developed in consultation with teachers, students, and educational experts, the student text is accessible and exciting and is supported by a complete Teacher’s Resource Guide that is useful for both new and experienced Civics teachers, and for non-specialist teachers.

Why a new grade 10 Canadian Civics curriculum and text?

  • Teachers commented that the 2000 Civics curriculum was difficult to teach and almost impossible to complete.
  • The student pass rate for Civics in some schools was unacceptably low.
  • Both students and teachers found that the existing Civics texts simply did not meet their needs.

The responses to these concerns?

  • A new Civics curriculum from the Ministry with a reduced number of learning expectations.
  • A new Civics text from Emond Montgomery Publications that supports the curriculum and promises a higher satisfaction rate for teachers and a better pass rate for students.
