Canada Law Book has been in business for over 150 years. The company traces its beginning to the publication of the Upper Canada Law Journal in 1855. In 1865, the name was changed to the Canada Law Journal and it was published under that title until 1922. In about 1894, Mr. R.R. Cromarty became manager of the company, after having been associated for a short time with Mr. Henry Cartwright, the publisher of the Canadian Law List. Mr. Henry O’Brien was the editor of the Canada Law Journal and Mr. A.H. O’Brien the sub-editor. They brought out the first edition of another famous Canada Law Book publication, O’Brien’s Conveyancer, in 1922. The successor publication, O’Brien’s Encyclopedia of Forms, is now in its 11th edition and available in print and electronic formats.
