Overview

This third edition of Debtor-Creditor Law and Procedure is the natural consequence of changes in the law, procedure, and practice in this area. The text has been updated to include new material on searches, with a particular emphasis on on line searches of various kinds. The chapters on Small Claims Court practice and procedure have been substantially revised. All the chapters have been updated to reflect legislative changes in areas such as residential tenancies, bankruptcy, and the Rules of the Court. New sections have been added to the text in the areas of consumer proposals, construction liens, the Personal Property Security Act, and commercial tenancies. Examples and illustrations have all been revised for greater accuracy, and to ensure more user-friendly content to clearly and practically explain creditor-debtor practice and procedure.

Laurence Olivo, called to the Ontario bar in 1978, has practised family law and civil litigation in Toronto, worked as policy counsel with the Ontario Ministry of the Attorney General, taught at the Bar Admission course, and is currently a professor in the School of Legal and Public Administration at Seneca College. He is the author of numerous textbooks for law clerks and paralegals.

DeeAnn Gonsalves, called to the Ontario bar in 1992, has practised primarily in the area of civil litigation including family law, estates, and debtor and creditor matters. She is an instructor with the Faculty of Continuing Education and Training at Seneca College.
