Overview

The purpose of this book is to explore practice and writing in the area of dispute resolution, drawing examples from Canada and the US, as well as other jurisdictions. Using a comprehensive selection of important writing by dispute resolution theorists and practitioners from all over the world, this text explores a range of dispute resolution processes—including negotiation, mediation, on-line dispute resolution, evaluative processes, and binding arbitration—and introduces the student reader to their practical application, as well as some of the key debates over their use. Examination of dispute resolution processes is framed by an introductory chapter on conflict analysis and a closing chapter on dispute systems design. Teaching questions, examples, and case studies are included throughout the text to enhance and to test knowledge and understanding.
