Overview
This text, prepared for Manitoba Senior 1 Social Studies, is an adaptation of Emond Montgomery’s highly successful
Canadian Civics. It will have all the effective and motivating features of Canadian Civics — Literacy Coach, Discussion Point, Face Off, Skills Toolkit, and CivicStar — and the assessment tools Pause, Reflect, Apply and Study Hall. Canada in the Contemporary World is supported by a comprehensive, easy-to-use Teacher’s Resource containing extensive teaching notes, answers to all text questions, supporting blackline masters, assessment rubrics, and notes on the culminating activities. Canada in the Contemporary World also benefits from the updates contained in Class Action.

Manitoba Grade 9 Social Studies course.
The “Living Histories” video series examines major themes and issues in Canada’s history through the eyes of its seniors. Many of the participants in the ten, half-hour videos are Manitobans, people whose personal stories and memories provide students with a unique and fascinating look at the history of both the country and the province.
